Counted among the oldest national parks in India, Jim Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is a favourite tourist spot. Established in the year 1936 as Hailey National Park, it positions itself in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The park has also got fame for being the protected area for the Bengal Tigers. It was the first sanctuary that came under the Project Tiger, which was a protection initiative for Indian wildlife.

Fauna

Other inhabitants of Corbett wildlife sanctuary are the tiger, chital, barking deer, sambar, hog deer, partridge, vulture, parakeet, kingfisher, duck, woodpecker and Laughing Thrush.
Flora
Wildlife resort Corbett boasts of its varied vegetation. It varies from dense Mixed, Sal and Sheesham forests that are mingled with bamboo thickets and grass, offering favourable haunts for wild beasts. Some easily identified trees in the park include ber, rohini, dhak, karipak, bael, khair, tendu, pula and sain.
